image

A jealous boyfriend took revenge on his cheating partner and lover - by allegedly bludgeoning the bed-bound pair with a fireman's axe.

According to sources, Stephen Abbott, 40, climbed up a ladder to the couple's bedroom window and spotted his philandering girlfriend Darlene Grice and her lover Carlos Derby, 34, in bed together.

Abbott then descended the ladder in a blind rage, retrieved the axe, and allegedly attacked the devient lovers, striking both of them in the head.

Grice escaped with minor injuries, but Derby, who was the subject of the axe-maniac's fury, suffered critical injuries.

Abbott then allegedly fled the scene in his girlfriend's 1990 black Lexus four by four truck and police are still searching for the suspect.

Dracula’s Castle in Transylvania for Sale

image

BUCHAREST, Romania (July 2) - An heir of Romania's former royal family put "Dracula's Castle" in Transylvania up for sale Monday, hoping to secure a buyer who will respect "the property and its history," a U.S.-based investment company said.

The Bran Castle, perched on a cliff near Brasov in mountainous central Romania, is a top tourist attraction because of its ties to Prince Vlad the Impaler, the warlord whose cruelty inspired Bram Stoker's 1897 novel, "Dracula."

Legend has it that Vlad, who earned his nickname because of the way he tortured his enemies, spent one night in the 1400s at the castle.

Bran Castle was built in the 14th century to serve as a fortress to protect against the invading Ottoman Turks. The royal family moved into the castle in the 1920s, living there until the communist regime confiscated it from Princess Ileana in 1948.

After being restored in the late 1980s and following the end of communist rule in Romania, it gained popularity as a tourist attraction known as "Dracula's Castle."

Man Beats Peacock Believed to be a Vampire

image

NEW YORK (July 1) - A peacock that roamed into a fast-food restaurant parking lot was attacked by man who vilified the bird as a vampire, animal-control authorities said.

Beaten so fiercely that most of his tail feathers fell out, the bird was euthanized, said Richard Gentles, a spokesman for the city's Center for Animal Care and Control.

"It's just unbelievable that someone would do something to a poor, defenseless animal and do it in such a cruel fashion," he said.

The peacock, a male several years old, wandered into a Staten Island Burger King parking lot and perched on a car hood Thursday morning. Charmed employees had been feeding him bread when the man appeared.

He seized the iridescent bird by the neck, hurled it to the ground and started kicking and stomping the creature, said worker Felicia Finnegan, 19.

"He was going crazy," she said.

Asked what he was doing, she said, the attacker explained, "I'm killing a vampire!"

Employees called police, but the man ran when he saw them. Authorities were looking for the attacker, described as being in his teens or early 20s.

It was not clear how the bird made his way to the Burger King, but a Staten Island resident who raises peacocks said he had given some to a person who lives near the restaurant.
